My Sacred Heart – Lyric Video

Rhiannon – Fleetwood Mac

The Beatles – I Am The Walrus

Classic psychedelic pop, overflowing with the usual clever quirky creativity of the Fab Four. Lennon’s flow of consciousness poetry, full of startling imagery and glorious irrelevant irreverence, is accompanied by a fanfare of instruments and voices.

George Martins excellent cello rich classical score adds depth and resonance to the sound. A male choir intones various chants and exclamations while not actually singing as such, and a transistor radio is tuned in and out through atmospheric interference to a BBC broadcast of Shakespeare’s King Lear.

John rasps his way through the surreal, modernist lyrics leaving us in no doubt that he is, indeed, the Walrus, while Stockhausen influenced interludes of noise and sonic chaos add to the fun.

This is more than a song, it’s an Artistic Event, a Happening.

Dexys Midnight Runners – Come On Eileen

Infectiously catchy and classic fusion of American Soul and Celtic Folk idioms, set in a world where everybody of all genders wears dungarees without a shirt underneath, and the trouser bottoms turned up. How can you not sing along with this?
